Who we are
A small team that loves BMW engines
Bavarian Motorworks works from Hamburg, Germany. We find good used BMW engines, test them, take photos and pack them well.
People come to us when their engine fails, when a garage needs a known engine, or when they want to see the engine before they pay.

What we sell
Four simple groups
Strong M and V8 engines
For fast cars and big builds we keep M engines and V8s. They get the same checks as every other engine.
Easy to find
Each engine is named by the car and the engine code. Search 530d or N57 and you find the same engines.
Gearboxes and parts too
We also sell gearboxes, turbos and drive parts. A swap often needs more than the engine.

What we test before we sell
An engine does not go on the site just because it looks clean.

Compression
We test each cylinder and compare them. Weak results do not get listed.

Oil and leaks
We check oil pressure and look in the oil pan for metal bits.

Honest photos
If a part is missing, you see it in the photos. We never promise parts that are not there.

Send us your VIN. We match the engine to your car, year and gearbox. If it is the wrong engine, we tell you.
Shipping and warranty
Safe from Hamburg to your door
Engines are heavy, so we ship them on a pallet. Tell us who will unload it and we plan the day.
Shipping is 299,00 €. The warranty lasts up to 12 months from delivery when a qualified garage fits the engine with the right oil, coolant and filters.

Do I get a certificate?
Yes. Eligible engines come with a test certificate. It shows the order, the engine code and the date.
Is there a fitting guide?
Yes. Each engine has a short guide: what fits, what we checked, and what your garage should check on the first start.
What if something goes wrong?
Tell us as soon as you see a problem. Please do not take the engine apart before we say yes in writing. Labour, towing and later changes are not covered.
